let's jump!

today, panzer jumped! 

p has been jumping off of two feet for at least a few months now, which we hear is very advanced, even for a two-year-old.  this morning at 6AM, i was able to catch him in mid-air! jumping along to some barney song.  officially my new favorite panzer photo ever.

hope

today, panzer may have peed in the potty!  i'm not sure where the liquid actually came from, but P was naked at the time, so we are hopeful the subsequent bribe will work.  quickly. 

take a picture

today, panzer demanded to look at photos of babies on my camera, like he does every day.  this makes it hard to photograph him.  today, we compromised and he let me take a picture of him and then show it to him.

privacy

today, panzer was in the bathroom grunting.

mom:  panzer are you pooping?
p: no
mom:  ok.  do you want to poop in the potty?
p:  privacy!  *slams door in mom's face*

and i pretend that he then sat on the potty (even though he was fully clothed i feel like that is progress)!

band-aid

today, panzer got his first band-aid! 

it was mostly a token to make him feel better and you can see it really slowed him down -- i could barely get a picture of it.  i hear the first band-aid is a bell you can't un-ring, but when we finally got p's off (which was a battle), he was totally uninterested in the replacement "ninja fight" band-aid i tried to give him.

panzer

today, panzer said his own name!  proof that he can distinguish between himself and other "babies."

good night moon

today, panzer spent the entire ride to the babysitter's asking me where the moon was.  "moon.  moon.  where is it?  moon.  where is it?  mommy?" 

i tried to explain to him that the moon rotates around the earth and we only see it because it's reflecting light from the sun, so it's usually only visible at night, and then only sometimes and in varying degrees.  he has such a funny serious look on his face as he ponders this response.  i wonder at what point, i'm just going to say "i don't know where it is panzer!"

boots

today, panzer ran off with daddy's steel-toed boots.

i have no idea how he can walk in them -- they weigh as much as he does!

today, panzer:

i'm not sure what i love most about this photo ... his open, drooling mouth; his astronomy club space t-shirt; or his little tummy hanging out.  <3

bug juice

today, panzer had his first bug juice.  i assume/hope all parents give in to that stuff occasionally ... and for the record, aaron did it! and because he wanted to be nice to p for behaving.

i don't know who says "aaaaah!" after they sip a beverage, but it's funny coming out of a 1-year-old's mouth.  thus, we were both treated to "yum!  juice! aaaaaaaah!" after every sip.

potato peeler

today, panzer helped me peel potatoes.  he stood by the trash can and waited anxiously for peels to fall on the floor.  he promptly scooped them up and dumped them in the garbage.  this was second prize to p, who really wanted to get his hands on the vegetable peeler.  i hope that enthusiasm sticks around for future brazilian black bean stews...

today, panzer got a new tooth!  maybe more but mommy is too cautious to keep her fingers in p's mouth for long,  hopefully his molars will come in as quickly as the rest of his teeth and we can get this stage over with!

big dog

today, panzer walked up to the couch, picked mohs up and threw him over his shoulder.  thankfully aaron was nearby to spot because panzer promptly fell on his butt.  he's like one of those little dogs that thinks he's a big dog :)  (mohs was scared, but unharmed.)

i wasn't quick enough with the camera this time, but mohs' personal space obviously means nothing to p.

today, panzer made himself comfortable in grandpa's chair.

manners again!

sometimes he's an absolute terror, but today, panzer said "thank you" (read: "tank you") without having to be asked, "excuse me" (read: "me!") when he tooted, and "may i please be excused?" (read: "please scuse") when he wanted to leave the dinner table.  combined with unruly blond curls, he is irresistible.

today, i walked in on panzer with his hand over mohs' face.  naturally, i freaked out a little bit ... until i realized he was actually attempting manners!  having heard me say "cover your mouth when you cough" one million times already.  now i guess we just have to work on covering your own mouth only.

rollin' part dos

today, panzer and daddy packed up the recycling on the big dummy and rode it away.  P looks so badass with his uncompromising stare and in his bright green dragon helmet.

bump

today, panzer rode his bike up to me, held out his fist, and screamed "bump!" until i gave him the requested fist bump.

his language is really taking off -- faster than i can adapt.  but it's exciting every day to watch his little brain in action :)

red mountain

today, panzer hiked into the center of a caldera with bum & aaron.  what an adventure!

then, he enjoyed some fratelli's pizza, which he insisted on coating in parmesan cheese all by himself a la "i do it!"

whoosh

today, panzer raced auntie kimmy down the sidewalk of jerome.  look what a blur they both are:

despite her sweet arm-pumping goodness, p has re-named her "bum." 

infected

today, panzer started his first ever round of antibiotics -- at 20 months and 1 week old.  given all the things he's eaten off the floor, and the time he tried to lick the flat chewing gum off the sidewalk at the park, he's obviously fought the good fight for a loooong time.  and now he's looking forward to finishing up round 1, so he can get his hands on the syringe-dropper-thingy in the bathtub.

ooooh! aaaah!

today, panzer enjoyed his first fireworks show!  i thought the noise would bother him, but he apparently loved it, and grandpa even had him saying "ooooh" and "aaaaah" in appreciation :) 

we have also designated his tie-dye as a fireworks shirt ... seems like a tradition is born.

TMI

today, panzer enjoyed some peanuts in the shopping cart while we perused safeway for lemon yogurt and bleach.  whenever anyone walked by, he held out his hands and yelled "my nuts! my nuts!"

mountain biking

today, panzer went mountain biking for the first time!  (not to be confused with his first mountain bike ride, which occurred on daddy's handlebars almost a year ago....)  P pushed his run bike along the raptor trail at dead horse state park, all by himself.  now to convince him to sit on the seat ... and teach him to use the pedals ... and get him a full-face helmet.
