choo choo

today, panzer was watching the little engine that could for the bajillionth time, and anticipated when the school bus would make its appearance, yelling "bus" at the TV moments before it arrived.  good job P!

adventurer

today, panzer braved the mcdonald's playland all by himself.  i was definitely nervous that i would have to venture inside to rescue him, but he smiled at me from every crack and window, and emerged unscathed.

splish splash ... again

today, panzer decided that mohs' bath looked like so much fun, he would climb in fully clothed when no one was looking and wipe himself down with the washcloth. 

daddy agreed to take over and won the jackpot -- a sopping wet poopy diaper!

round and round

today, panzer needed to get somewhere, so he took matters into his own hands.

today, panzer got a visit from granny todd.  it's like the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, and santa claus all at once!

i shoes

today, panzer made his first sentence:  "I eat." 

he also does a lot of other things, like "I buckle" and "I milk" and "I shoes."

today, panzer slept.  p sleeps every day, and every day, it reminds me that something is right in the world.

today, panzer threw back to his old carseat.  hard to believe he ever fit into that (or that he's still within the weight limit to ride in it!)

today, panzer learned how to use the refrigerator water dispenser properly -- into a cup or bowl or whatever other container he can find in the tupperware drawer.  this would be fine, but then he dumps the water out, onto the floor, or worse, back into the tupperware drawer.

today, panzer found my breast pump and walked around the house with it pressed to his belly button.

utensils are fun

today, panzer insisted on eating his dinner (tomato soup and cauliflower) with tongs. 

his plate is surprisingly clean.

bros part dos

today, panzer became very interested in his little brother.  like, i have to hide mohs from panzer so he wont get assaulted in his sleep.

p also held his arms out for mohs and said "please" so i let him hold the baby.  he was very gentle and patted mohs' stomach.

until he had to take a call.

stinkhead

today, panzer took his diaper off and yelled "stinks!" while running around outside with daddy and the hose.  then he tried to put it back on his legs -- smart.

manners

today, panzer opened the bedroom door, yelled "daddy!", burped so loud it would make auntie karrot proud, shut the door, and ran away.

today, panzer's parents lost another valuable opportunity to teach him how to behave indoors.

instead, it's called: "hey panzer, let's race our bicycles to the door."

sandbox

today, panzer tried out his new sandbox.  as much as he loves running around outside and shoving rocks into his face and down the front of his onesy, he was surprisingly calm about a designated place to dig.

today, panzer grabbed my camera and said "cheese" and practiced his fake smile.

today, panzer counted out four blocks.  1, 2, 3, 4.   !!!

maybe i'm overenthusiastic, but that seems pretty advanced for 1 1/2 years.  soon he'll be counting out the beats to your favorite song.

bros

today, panzer met his little brother for the first time.

there was a brief stare-down, and then appropriately gentle patting of heads and hugs.  and that was even before p found out that his little brother brought him a hippo bus full of little bugmobiles! 

then p tried to show me where the babies eye and nose are ... and i got to separate them for the first time!  the next year or so will be tough (for panzer and mommy and daddy) but i know they will be buddies.

buckle

today, panzer got a new toy from daddy ... after much long laboring (and one lost shoe) in the hardware store -- a homemade buckle/hook/strap contraption. 

p loves all of those things, so it's a hit!

today, panzer dug into his borscht... good little hot pink russian eater.

hot diggity dog

today, panzer threw a fit over a hot dog.  as in "i need more hot dog in my mouth right-goddamn-now."

in other news, p has a weird habit of saying only the last syllable of words.  hot dog is just "dog."  excuse me is "me."  banana and tuna are both "na."  this makes his speech a little ambiguous ... there's a big difference between uncle tuna and a banana.

hurt

today, panzer got his finger smashed for the first time by the display case in the bike shop.  poor dude had no idea what got him -- now he's got a sweet green bruise under his right ring fingernail. 

it was sad, but a good opportunity to learn what "hurt" really means, since p's head seems to bounce off of everything.  maybe now i can convince him to stop cracking me in the face with his head and trying to gouge my eyes out with his little fingers.

in-n-out

today, panzer decided sitting in the bath is no longer fun.  instead, he will tolerate minimal washing, then climb in and out of the tub repeatedly.  i foresee stitches in his slippery little future....

fair fun

today, panzer went to the verde valley fair.  he's too short for the rides, and has no patience for the animals (and he called the turkey a duck :), but he enjoyed running around in the dust and eating meat product on a stick. 

all in all, a success.

smuggler

today, panzer made it from the bike shop to his crib with a skewer and a wrench.  aaron found him after his nap with the skewer in his hand ... and discovered the wrench still down the front of P's onesy, where both had apparently been stashed for quite a while. 

and if there were any doubt -- aaron is the one who taught panzer that your shirt can actually be a pocket by sticking the fart machine down there.

bribed

today, panzer chose fruit snacks over mommy.  when i handed them to him, he waved bye and shooed me out the door.
